So what makes me an authority in the area of health and life coaching and losing weight you may ask. Well I have worked in the health and fitness industry for 20 years as an exercise physiologist and health coach. I’ve had my own struggles with weight and used to weigh 25 pounds heavier than I am now. 

I recently turned 42 and am now in the best shape of my life and stronger than I ever was in my twenties. I’m competitive in my age group in endurance events such as triathlons and I’m in the process of training for an Olympic distance triathlon this year!
I’ve worked with clients who have never exercised in their life to elite and pro athletes and everyone in between. My focus is on preventative medicine and biohacking. 

I’m fascinated by the human body and what can be done to improve health and performance. Exercise is medicine combined with a positive mindset and healthy eating to ensure you optimize your body function and maximize your energy levels and feel better. My Story
I've also struggled with my weight in the past
I used to be 25lbs overweight when I moved to Houston. After the stress of graduate school combined with a new job where I would go out every day for lunch the weight started to creep up. I wasn't as active as I usually was and I was overeating plus my metabolism was slowing down as I was fast approaching 40.

I realized I had to do something about it as it was affecting my health and my mood and it was uncomfortable. Luckily as an exercise physiologist I knew what worked for my clients in the past however I had never been on a diet and I still don't believe in diets to this day. I cleaned up my diet and cut out processed food and refined sugar and alcohol and many foods that cause inflammation combined with a vigorous exercise program and managed to lose it all and keep it off.  

For years I had been telling people what they should do to lose weight, get stronger, increase their energy, improve their sleep, improve their mood or whatever their goal was. The advice was good but there was no follow through or accountability. Most people were enthusiastic at the start of any program but as soon as that enthusiasm wore off after the first couple of weeks they would fall by the wayside and stop their new routine and not get the results they wanted. This was very frustrating for them and for me as it wasn’t fulfilling. I like to help people get the results they want. This went on for years until I learned a few strategies and techniques that increased the likelihood of success and felt so much more rewarding. 

What was different this time was the accountability from my wife along with other coaches I worked with to help me stay on track and follow through like I never did in the past. I had tried and failed multiple times before but I believe that knowing what we should do to lose weight is not enough. You have to have a big enough why first of all. You need to be self motivated or if you're not self motivated then you need an accountability partner to hold you to your goals and action steps each week. Step 1: Set up the conditions for inevitable success. When you have conditions for inevitable success than follow through becomes easy. Without this, people inevitably fall back into old patterns and get more of what they don’t want. In our first session we’re going to look at how to make you a priority within the context of your busy lifestyle. This is empowering you to take charge of your life and your health without compromising everything else.

Step 2: of the system is: What to eat for your unique body type - some people burn fat best, others need more carbs or protein. Without this step you may eat foods commonly deemed as “healthy” but you don’t feel healthy or lose weight. People often wonder why they can’t lose weight or make healthy choices or feel like they plateau no matter how much they exercise or how much salad they eat. We want to find out as quickly as possible which foods are optimal for you. You’ll know exactly which foods are most fat burning in your body, which foods give you energy and which foods take away. Again, let’s take another step forward.

Step 3: How to turn these healthy habits into behaviors that last! What percentage of people do you think lose weight and then gain it back within 6 months? 98%! That’s because they are missing this step. The diet mentality is based on deprivation. You get quick-fix results because you’re able to deprive yourself for a temporary period of time. Eventually, this method falls apart which leads to a screw it all binge and despite all your hard work you gain the weight back. This is so frustrating! So we can look at what the 2% of people losing the weight do and keeping it off do. That’s the category you want to be in.

Step 4:  Strong mindset and belief in yourself that you are capable of changing your body, your eating and exercise habits, your behavior and your determination not to quit when things get difficult. Your mind is a powerful tool. Use it to your advantage. Remember that you are in control. You are in charge. You have the power to make this work. One thing is common that many successful people have is a positive mindset and belief in themselves no matter what others think about them. You have to be bulletproof and not care what others think about you. Let's keep moving forward.

Step 5:  Move your body consistently to keep your energy levels high and your metabolism in overdrive. Find something you enjoy if you hate exercising but try to move your body everyday for at least 30 minutes to an hour. 

Step 6: Accountability and Support! This is what ties everything together and ensures that you follow through on your action steps. Without someone holding you accountable you aren't guaranteed to complete your action steps. That's
